Summary

HED Technologies is looking for a Hardware Engineer to develop and optimise its new range of wireless products. This position will primarily involve research, development and implementation of multiple DSPs and RF circuits using primarily WiFi, Bluetooth (Classic and LE). You will need to master hardware architecture, circuitry layout, schematic and complex pcb layout. It requires a good understanding of industry standards, approval methods and documentation required for final product approval. You must be self-starter, motivated by challenges, dynamic, optimistic, visionary and able to share knowledge and tasks across multidisciplinary teams in a high tech environment.

Responsibilities

  • To manage and maintain all company product ‘s Hardware, BOMs and gerbers
  • Develop the new generation product’s hardware as well as add on modules to 3rd parties for licensing.
  • Good understanding of circuits lay out and emissions guidelines with environments using Wi-Fi whilst coexisting with Bluetooth and NFC.
  • Develop hardware prototypes for bench evaluation and proof of concept for connectivity and audio solutions.
  • Develop evaluation boards, modules, and reference designs for 3rd parties’ implementation of company owned IP and products.
  • To assemble early products prototypes and asses, rectify and optimize hardware issues.
  • Write down technical developments and technical documentation to support patents, product approval and manuals.
  • Identify potential hardware obsolesces in advance and develop seamless product transition programs.
  • To support QA team on all hardware related issues from start to resolution.
  • Work in a cross-functional team, including external partners to bring new wireless products successfully to market.
  • Define specs and communicate clearly with the rest of the team and management.
  • Research and identify latest industry trends, technologies and hardware within Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and audio industries.
  • To manage and take ownership of product’s BOM, gerbers, manufacturing files and produce technical documentation for type approval and manufacturing.
  • To miniaturize electrical circuits and pcb layouts, including SoC studies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Electronics, Computer Science or significant experience working with RF embedded products or audio products.
  • Experience designing complex architectures and circuits and schematics with complex processor and high speed digital signals.
  • RF or Microwave circuit design experience down to a component level. Familiar with designing and validating RF matching networks and antennas.
  • Experience with audio circuit design and optimizing hardware for low noise and interference levels.
  • Minimum of 5 year’s experience with complex multi-layers pcb layouts.
  • Experience with multiple DSP platforms.
  • Fluent in use of lab equipment such as JTAG, USB protocol analyzers, etc.
  • Ability to assemble early prototypes with good soldering skills.
  • Knowledge of wireless audio streaming protocol and techniques with latency in mind an advantage.
  • Good background in embedded programming.
  • Knowledge of audio mobile applications an advantage.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations and approval process ETSI, FCC, IC, CE advantageous.
  • Ability to guide and assist members of the group on technical issues.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects with minimal supervision.
  • Experience of project management an advantage as well as the ability to liaise with Subcontractors and Partners.
  • Working experience with layout software such as Altium, OrCAD or Allegro for creating PCB.
  • Good level of English with good verbal and written communication.
  • Swiss working permit or EU citizen.
